Who is Hollie…
Hollie joined the team at Emotive Landscapes in 2023. Coming from a Kitchen design background Hollie always had an enthusiasm for plants and landscapes and so took the opportunity presented by Covid to re-train her skills and completed a garden design course with the British Academy of Garden Design. Passionate about the environment, Hollie also believes in prospering and preserving the natural environment and hopes that improving our gardens will be a long-term boost for nature too.
Where does Hollie get her inspiration/influences from?
The natural environment is Hollie’s biggest resource when it comes to her designs. She loves to play with different materials and textures and explore how they interact with different plants and what already exists within the garden.
Natural materials like stone, brick, wood, different metals, and textured surfaces are incorporated with new products to the market that allow us to generate something unique and with design longevity. The organic aspect of the natural materials allows the spaces to change with the seasons and the elements and provide an ever changing/ever evolving scenic experience.
It’s important to give careful consideration to the materials selected as Hollie states, “I think the quality of materials speak for themselves and help towards the garden maintaining a strong look in all seasons.” Hollie has a lot of experience of working with clients to achieve a design that is sensitive to – but enhances the space, within the specification and within budget.

How Hollie has helped our clients in the past
Having worked on many different schemes from small residential garden planting schemes to large scale garden redesigns – which have featured bespoke gazebo’s, outdoor kitchens, sculptures and outdoor lighting schemes, Hollie has an organic approach to design. She really likes to get a good understanding of the client’s vision, style, personality and perhaps most importantly the intended use or uses for the space from a comprehensive design brief/site meeting. To be most successful this initial meeting should be a symbiotic exchange of ideas and concepts between the designer and the client.

Part of my extraordinary enjoyment in this work is the wonderful places it takes me. I have been lucky enough to see some not many do and that many would like to. A recent project has made a new entry into my top ten workplaces. We are implementing the first phase in what I hope will become a multi-layered garden landscape built considerately over a few years.
