Good for the Environment

Here at Emotive Landscapes HQ things have literally been growing before our eyes. Our talented and dedicated team of highly skilled landscapers have been busier than ever doing what they do best – turning your dream garden/outdoor space into a beautiful reality.

Alongside all this spring activity Guy Jones and his Nursery Manager Jack have been busy developing and planning the expansion of the Glasshouses. We recently took delivery of over 3000 trees, shrubs, bushes, plants and 8000 bare roots which all have to be carefully unpacked and planted accordingly.

Jack has been busy potting up all the bare root plants which have to be planted using peat free compost into individual 2 litre pots, watered labelled and sorted into varieties. The aim is to pot 500 bare roots per person per day!

We prepare a special mix of compost that is extremely nutrient and will retain a good amount of moisture. One by one we place each bare root in a pot (root side down) and fill it with our compost. It then needs a good drink to keep the roots moist and wake the plant up for the growing season. Watching the glasshouse fill with life is a real treat.

Bare roots are lighter to transport than potted plants so they have a lower carbon footprint and are cheaper to import. This cost saving is then able to be passed on to our clients as these plants can be sold closer to wholesale price once they have been potted up by us in-house.

Smaller shrubs purchased at the same time are grown under the heat of our glasshouse and Jack’s watchful care, and can then reach a more desirable size ready for planting directly into client’s gardens.

Good for the Client

Ultimately all of this is great news for you the client. Due to us having the provision to grow and stock a large variety of trees, shrubs and plants – from the concept design stage we are able to choose from and procure the exact size and style of plants we require. No waiting on long delivery and lead times from Europe at large environmental and cost. No hoping that the stock arrives on time, as described and not damaged. We can literally walk across the yard and select the best and healthiest plants from our home-grown stock that have been lovingly tendered and talked to by Jack from infancy! We have the freedom to choose varieties of plants for our planting plans that we want, rather than be restricted to what’s in season or available at that point in time.

All of this enhances our unique offering of being a full-service landscape design business. From the original idea to the development of a design supported by our own Glasshouses stock, through to the implementation of your new outdoor space – Emotive Landscapes can professionally and environmentally provide you with a full dedicated service.
